* Communities *

February 2026

As part of our line of inquiry ‘Where does my food come from?’ we had a visitor from a local food bank. He showed us different food items that are given to families who visit food banks and shared different ways in which we can help people who are less fortunate in our community.

The Elves showed amazing knowledge of how to take ownership and care for the world around them.

After learning different ways we can reduce our carbon footprint we had a go at growing our own fruit and veg in the Elves garden. The Elves also managed to raise raised £62.55 for a local rescue centre after finding a lost bat in the school hall.

* Big Ideas *

Happy New Year, welcome back Elves!

We are looking forward to getting stuck in to our new Inquiry ‘Big Ideas’ in which we will be exploring significant events in the history of aviation as well as learning about some famous people who contributed to the progression of air travel.

The Elves  were very lucky to welcome Mr Kynaston this week. He told us all about his job as a pilot, showed us lots of amazing photos and gave us some top tips to become a pilot.

Aerospace museum visit

The Elves had the most fantastic day visiting the Aerospace museum in Bristol. It was very interesting to see lots of different aircrafts from over the years and learn more about the amazing people who have contributed to the progression of air travel. We especially enjoyed going onboard Concorde and our History of Air travel workshop!

‘Good To Be Me’ non-fiction books

The Elves class have been busy creating their own non-fiction books containing facts all about themselves! Some of the information included facts about their families, their likes and their dreams and goals. The Elves have been working very hard on using commas in lists to include in their books, well done Elves!

* Recyclable Sea Creatures *

The Elves class have been working hard on creating their own recycled sea creatures!
They first designed their sea creature, thinking carefully about which materials to use. They then put the materials together, painted and decorated to create the finished product.
Great job team Elves
